“For the complexity and originality that have distinguished his literary, poetic and narrative as well as artistic work for more than sixty years. For never betraying literature but rather for transporting its demands into the world of visual arts. ”
For this very reason, Emilio Isgrò won the “Montale Fuori di Casa” Award for Literature.
Tomorrow, November 9, 2022, at 6.00 pm the Prize will be presented at the Conference Room of Palazzo Reale in Milan. At the same time the book “Sì alla notte”, published by Guanda, will be presented by the writer and journalist Alessandro Zaccuri, who has been advocating for years the need to give space to Isgrò’s textual works.
“Sì alla notte” succeeds precisely with this goal, like a new "canzoniere", with a wide collection of sonnets, leading us to the discovery of a literary, luminous and universal dimension, the least known and explored Isgro's production, but equally effective.
All his works, both theatrical, such as L’Orestea di Gibellina (Feltrinelli 1983-85), and novels, such as Marta de Rogatis, (Feltrinelli, 1987), Polifemo (Mondadori, 1989), Autocurriculum (Sellerio Editore, 2017) contain profound cultural, popular, ironic references, which together creates a personal and really unique language.
