Coinciding with the XII Edition of Taobuk – Taormina International Book Festival (16-20 June, 2022), for which he designed the logo, Emilio Isgrò will return to his beloved Sicily.
The artist will be awarded and he’ll present the installation “The butterflies of the Malavoglia”, to celebrate the centenary of the death of Giovanni Verga; also he will be the major host of Fuori cornice, a new format that includes exhibitions, conferences and multidisciplinary projects, with the collaboration of the curator Marco Bazzini and the support of Fondazione Sicilia.
In addition, the former Church of Sant’Agostino, in the suggestive setting of Piazza IX aprile, will host from 16 June to 5 July 2022 the exhibition “Le Sicilie”, curated by Roberta Scorranese, in collaboration with the Emilio Isgrò Archive and Galleria Gaburro.
In the works chosen for the exhibition, Isgrò erases places and spaces of his beloved land on the map, frames its contours, only to link it to the rest of the world, to imagine it new and at the same time equal in its identity, always making it reborn, because it emerged from the incomparable device of erasure.
