Treccani Arte has invited eight artists, (Elisabetta Benassi, Ettore Favini, Claire Fontaine, Piero Golia, Emilio Isgrò, Marcello Maloberti, Rä di Martino e Alessandro Piangiamore), to illustrate one of the Italian 150 lemmas present within Vocabolario Treccani for the project Utopia.
This project was born from the will of celebrating the contemporary art creativity and the Italian language charm, through the impressive challenge of creating a vocabulary of images.
Each artist chose a word in which they identify themselves and their work, rendered through their personal imagery. By associating then the selected lemma and an elaborated image, created ad hoc or taken from their own corpus of images.
The word "butterfly" comes to life thorugh Emilio Isgrò's erasure technique. The artwork will be realised as poster in a special edition of 100 pieces and it will show the image on the front and the selected lemma on the back.
