In recent years he has exhibited in some of the major Italian and international museums. In August 2017 was released his first animated film NYsferatu, screened in Central Park and the film Festival in Rome.
Andrea Mastrovito was born in 1978 in Bergamo. Now he lives between Italy and the United States.
His work is characterised by the reinvention of public spaces and by the use of different techniques such as drawing and cutout, but also by performance and synchronized video installations.
In the last few years he exhibited his artworks in the main national and international museums, just to name a few: the MAXXI in Rome, the MART in Rovereto, the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the Centre for Contemporary Art Luigi Pecci in Prato, the Andersen Museum in Rome, the MUDAC of Lausanne and the MAD of New York.
His work is part of the greatest Italian private collections, and it is also part of the collections of several museums such as the Museo del Novecento in Milan, the MUDAM in Luxembourg and GAMec in Bergamo.
Mastrovito can claim many solo shows under his belt not only in Italy, but also in France, Switzerland, Germany and USA, as well as the collaborations outside the art world (from the fashion industry to the music one, from cinema to the sport world).
Among the collaborations he realized the project 9000 papillons for Maison Dior Homme and I am dreaming of..., created for Sephora, 5th Avenue in New York.
In 2014 together with the artist Stefano Arienti he realized the project for the New Church dedicated to Pope Giovanni XXIII in Bergamo, Mastrovito took charge of the apse, creating three big golden stained-glass windows.
Also in 2014 Mastrovito gave life to a public project called Kickstarting in Bushwick neighborhood in New York, project realized for and with the help of the Bushwick children.
Recently the artist is involved in the promotion of his last ambitious work, NYsferatu - Symphony of a Century, a refined mute animated film, made of 35 thousands drawings.
The movie is been screened several times in Europe and in USA, it succeeded even in Italy, where it has been presented to the Festival of Cinema in Rome in 2017 and at Stelline Foundation in Milan in 2018.
